    Kids Class Christmas Party

    Thursday, December 20th, 2007

Today, Kuya Ar-ar, Ate Aryan and Baby Rain attended their class Christmas Parties. They all woke up early to prepare their things. My wife, Dang, took care of them because I was still asleep but I was already awake when they all left for school. My kids always say goodbye to me before they leave and they were all carrying their gifts for the party.

Dang was with Baby Rain all day. Well, Baby Rain is only 4 years old that’s why Dang is always with him. I followed them after an hour to take some photos of the party. I wasn’t able to take photos of Kuya Ar-ar and Ate Aryan’s party because they’re in different schools. (more…)

    Dang Craves Puto Bumbong

    Tuesday, December 18th, 2007

Puto Bumbong is a local Philippine treat which is also part of the Philippine Christmas Tradition. Here, the Christmas season officially starts on the first day of the “Simbang Gabi” or Mass At Dawn which is a 9 day novena to the Blessed Mother and it starts on December 16.

During this period or even throughout the holidays, vendors selling Puto Bumbong line the streets around churches all over the country. Puto Bumbong is made of ground rice and cooked in bamboo tubes using a traditional steamer. It has a violet or purple color and served with butter and grated coconut meat on a heated banana leaf. No Christmas Shopping :(

    Tuesday, December 18th, 2007

Since my last client was a total bust for not paying a fair price for the work done, Christmas this year will be a little different. I’ve already made plans with the money I thought I was going to get like buy the kids some new clothes and gifts but, I guess, that won’t happen anymore. (more…)

    My Wife Said NO!

    Sunday, December 16th, 2007

Recently, I finished a few design projects for a client. 2 static websites, an ebay template and an ebook cover. I decided to bill the client for it because we really needed the money but, unfortunately, my client said I still need to finish the rest before getting paid. I asked how many more and he sent a list of work to do which, including the first 4, totals 13 jobs. The jobs include designing and creating websites, brochures and graphics designs. He priced all 13 jobs at $250 and if you divide that to 13 will give you less than $20 per job. On that list, I can understand that 1 or 2 or even 3 are worth $20 but the rest like designing new websites and creating brochures are worth more than $20.

I told my wife about it and after a long discussion (and being scolded for accepting work cheap) she said NO! That I should just demand payment for the work done, which I did, and just forget about it. I also asked other people’s opinion about it and they agreed that, even with my shortcomings, $20 for a website is too freaking low. Well, I do agree with them, $20 is only 800 pesos, with today’s exchange rate, and that is not cheap, that is inhuman. I asked because I wanted to know their opinion about it.

My wife said NO and she is right. It’s not worth it.

    We’ll Have A New Baby

    Sunday, December 16th, 2007

My wife, Dang, is 5 months pregnant and we will be expecting a new baby by April or May this coming 2008. This is going to be our fourth and final child and yes we did plan to have four kids. There is a gap of four years between each of our kids. Our eldest is 12 years old, turning 13 this January, our second child is 8 years old and our third child is 4 years old. We already 2 boys and 1 girl, so we are really hoping that our new baby will be a girl. In fact, we already have a name prepared for her, Rhomiel Cloudia.  We are going to stick with that name until after the Ultra Sound where we’ll know the baby’s gender.

We are very excited about it, even the kids are excited and eager to see the new baby, and I’m very happy that my wife is not having any problems with her pregnancy. After four months, I’ll be posting pictures of our new baby!
